Newton strums a birthday song - entry for Inky Paws Challenge #42

Hi fellow crafters !

Today I'm taking on the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge. Their theme is Birthday ! Oh... I love birthdays because it is filled with cakes, parties, friends and BIRTHDAY SONG ! So much fun ! 

Going through my Newton Nook's stash, I realised that I do not have a birthday themed stamp set ! :( 

I cracked my brains hard and thought there should be something I could use for a birthday themed card. So, finally, I settled for the Aloha Newton stampset which I have yet used. I think Newton holding a Yukelele is just perfect! Newton strumming a Birthday Song would be so cute !! Here is my one layer card 😀 I love how this turned out ! 

First I started off creating the rainbow using a self made stencil and inked each layer using distress inks (abandon coral, fossilised amber, mowed lawn, broken china, seedless preserve) and covered each line as I blend using finger dauber sponge onto Bristol smooth card stock.

The clouds are then blended using mini ink blending tool with broken china distress inks and the bottom part of the card with cracked pistachio distress ink. I sprinkled some water droplets onto the card to create some water distress marks on my card.

Then, I stamped Newton using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and masked him before stamping the heap of flowers and leaves under him. I colored them in using copic sketch markers and outlined with copic multiliner 0.01 black pen.

Next, I positioned the sentiment from MFT birthday bears stamp set along the rainbow curve and stamped it using versafine onyx black ink. Using the musical notes from Mama Elephant Rock and Paws stampset, I stamped them randomly over and onto the rainbow using Versafine Onyx black ink and filled in the symbols with black marker.

Finally, I highlighted the musical notes with Sakura white gelly roll pen to give them a glossy look. Die cut this front panel with MFT wonky stitched rectangle die and adhered it directly onto a top folding horizontal Neenah Crest Solar White 110 lbs card base. And, my card is done ! 😇

Be Always Blooming - Mama Elephant

Hello Friends ! When I saw this Organic Blooms stamp set from Mama Elephant, I just had to get it. The floral image look fantastic and I love how huge the image is and able to cover a whole card. This is perfect for my take on Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge theme Fantastic Florals. 

I stamped the image on a standard A2 size watercolor paper using distress ink - tattered rose. The whole image was then water-colored using distress ink markers. To give it an elegant touch, I gold outlined the blooms using Uni-ball Signo Sparkling Glitter Gold Pen. I then added the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Flowers using gold embossing powder.

I die cut a frame using the largest of Die-namics Stitched rectangle Scallop frame to enclose my focal panel. I cut the edge of the bloom and leaves using my craft knife so as to lay the image over the frame to give it a more dimensional look. Finally, I glue down my panel onto my card base using double sided tape and my card is finished !

Day 28. Merry Christmas Angel

Hello lovelies, time flies. 2 more days to go till the end of the daily marker 30 days coloring challenge. I had so much fun and made some new friends in this amazing community. 

 


This card was inspired by the awesome Jennifer Mcguire. First I used some washi tape to mask off the 4 sides of my card leaving a smaller rectangle in the center. Using mama elephant pigment ink pads, I blended the inner rectangle using colors Bubblegum, Ocean and Eggplant. Then I embossed the whole card using the geometric next level embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers. I've colored the cute Angel image with copic markers and embellished the halo and star with my wink of stella glitter pen. To finish off the card, I stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment onto a banner diecut (which I've slightly altered the size to fit the inner rectangle) and mount both the angel and the banner onto the card using foam tape. Hope you love it !
